Collided with a sizeable truck on this mornings commute!
Was cycling through central London on a long straight, windy and bucketing down. When a truck coming the other way turns across me, he eventually sees me and comes to a juddering halt, but blocking my way. I was six feet away from him and going at a decent pace. So I veer to the left and stick out my right foot to absorb the impact. All went well Foot hits the trucks grill, smashing it and going straight through it. Bike and rider come to quick halt, both ok, just a pedal strike to the shin (I ride MTB flats).

Sounds like the truck came out the worse, which must be a near first. Glad you're OK. How's the foot feeling today? Any damage to the bike?0

Ouch, metal pedal to the shin - getting hit by a lorry might have been preferable
Sounds like a lucky escape, my bellow/scream of fear would set off car alarms if a lorry started to pull across me like that.0 -
His insurers will probably claim against you - people have no shame!0

Bike completely undamaged, which is nice as I'd put a new wheel on the day before. Body fine as well, apart from a few puncture wounds on the shin.
It's weird these near misses, your mind/body go in to survival mode where you can make effective decisions in a split second. Didn't scream (though some pedestrians who assumed the worst did), think I muttered oh f**k under my breath. After having a chat with the driver went on my merry way.0
