bit of an odd spec - XT crank, R mech and shifters but deore brakes & f mech. tyres are pretty heavy

What are the deore 615 brakes like?

nothing wrong with them - basically the same as XT in terms of power.

Very good. The fork is not good though but you could sell it as new and get enough to buy a much better Rockshox Revelation.

There are some good bits on it and some... compromises... on the face of it though £1800 seems a bit on the high side to me, but, I haven't really taken much notice of the 27.5 movement - what others have you looked at or are considering?

Really? I thought the Fox forks were decent in general?

Not completely sure tbh, just want to go full suss as Dalby forest is shaking me to bits on the ht lol. Budget, I could probably stretch to 2.5k and would prefer to do 0% finance which is what I did with the HT I have at the mo.

Not that crazy a spec. XT rear mech is expected for 'marketing' reasons, everything is pretty standard fare. XT shifters at least have a functional upgrade over SLX or Deore. Better to be had money wise for sure, but its not bad.

The thing that stands out most to me is the 25.4mm stem clamp and bars. Unusual for bikes nowadays but at least the bars are a decent width.

The XT rear mech with Deore everything else is very common like benpinnick said but the XT shifters are certainly highlight.

haha yea it does say that actually. I think it's a bit of a typo. 25.4mm rise is a very accurate rise measurement and coincidentally a handlebar clamp diameter!

Generally yes but the Float CTD Evolution is a bit of a turd. Unreliable and badly damped.

Because it's metric for 1 inch.

Top of the range yes, but CTD has some problems, however if you get the bike, the most likely outcome is you loving the fork and keeping it without issues.

It's a Canadian bike, they haven't moved in to the 20th century and adopted the metric system yet.

    Hence the inch rise bars...

fox get more of a bad reputation because they are found OE on a lot of bikes so more people tend to have issues. These are mainly down to the shock not working - this is down to people being having different weights, riding styles and bikes. The evolution fork and shock are the bottom end of the rung and have basic damping which isn't really able to be tuned.

There have also been issues of the CTD not really doing anything between the different settings but that's not limited to the evolution range. The 2013 forks were also very linear in travel so would blow through it when set up for good small bump sensitivity. They no longer sell the RLC variant which let you set up the compression damping as you liked it. RS RCT3 which lets you adjust slow speed damping and Manitou's ABS+ are better compression dampers. I'd not currently want to run a fox fork either a pike RCT3 or more likely a Manitou mattoc will be my next purchase.
