Hi, I have a bike with avid elixir brakes on.
On the front brake the cable has kinked slightly as it comes out of the lever. It is not leaking at the moment but just in case it does i am thinking of shortening the brake hose. Do i need a new hose barb or is this reusable so then i would just need a new olive. Would i need any other new parts to do this apart from new dot fluid to bleed the brake afterwards.
Cheers for any help.

I've reused Avid barbs before but they can be a bugger to get out of the hose.I'd always replace the olive. You'll also need a bleed kit.Avid bleed kits are about £35 but epic bleed to a perfectly good kit for about £15 which has everything you need for a bleed including fluid.

    thanks for reply ibbo68.
I already have the bleed kit as i have bleed the brakes in the past but thanks for the link.
Like you said i'll try to get the barb out but if its too much trouble i'll just buy a new one.
    Cheers

IIRC I butchered one pulling it out with pliers so the next one I cut the hose then carefully cut the barb out using a Stanley knife.
