New Waterproof Required . . .Help!

My current waterproof isn’t cutting it, with particular reference to this morning’s commute.

So I need a new one, and think I’ve narrowed it down to the Castelli Pocket Liner or Sportful Survival Goretex. Does anybody have any opinions on either (or indeed alternatives?). Either way I’d want one that would pack down, if not into a jersey pocket, then certainly into the small laptop bit at the back of my messenger bag easily.

Thanks in advance!

  • I would add this one into your consideration:

The Sporful one looks good for the currently discounted price though.

Dry this morning using one of these. Mine is a medium and will squeez into a jersey pocket with some careful folding.

Very pleased with mine, certainly not boil in the bag with the vents open.

Thanks for the alternatives gents, all good choices. Went for the Castelli Pocket Liner in the end (25% off @ Sigma). Justified it on the account of a dry January and February (beer-wise) means it might pay for itself. That's what I'm telling the wife anyway.....

Correct choice! Fabulous bit of kit. Kept my top half bone dry this morning. Works v well on longer rides as well. Was going to suggest the Castelli Muur - which is basically a cheaper version of the Liner.

    gore or rapha.

similar question, do any roadies own any form of over trouser? my george hincapies (which had a road fit!) are no longer with us. So im tempted to get a new pair of something...

Apparently the Assos overtrousers are very good (a colleague has them) but incredibly expensive even in the knicker version.

A vote for Rapha hear. They have them in the Sale for £110 if they have any left.

Several really wet rides and bone dry, packs down very well and breaths well also. Very nice bit of kit.
