My mate is 5ft 10.5ins with and inside leg measurement of 33ins he is looking to buy a Trek road bike what size frame would you recommend,

He really needs to go and sit on them and try some out.

He is looking to buy one on Gumtree its a size 58 but i think it will be way too big for him.

He could go to a bike shop and try some out as a guide, not very pc but that is retail nowadays.

Yea but the nearest Trek dealer is 55 miles away.

Frame sizes are highly variable these days but I am 5'11" with a 33" inside leg and no bike I have ever tried and fitted has been more than 56cm (Scott CR1). On a modern Colnago CX Zero or CLX 3.0 I am 54cm or thereabouts. So 58cm is almost certainly too big unless Trek has very funny sizing.

It depends on what geometry, but that definitely sounds too big. He'd be a 54 by most sizing charts, perhaps a 56.

Thanks guys, he finally agrees with me that a 58 is way too big,
