Looking at some c24's at £576 or so but at an approximate weight difference of 400g is it really worth it?

  • I've got some and they are a great set of wheels! They will instantly make a big difference. As to wether you feel the difference is worth the £570+ is subjective but they are a quality set That will last you well! alternatively rs80 / rs81 c24 are pretty much the same bar the hubs and a similar weight & would be approx £200 cheaper.

It is the rim weight difference that you notice. Mass saved at the hubs is practically un noticable. C24 wheels use sub 400g rims most rims are 450g or more. You will notice how much faster it makes you is another matter. Lighter wheels can spure you on to try harder though and will feel more "lively".

Depends if that 400g is going to help you win over £576 worth of prize money from racing. If not, then why spend so much money?

On the other hand, if you have more than half a grand to spend on wheels, then it doesn't really matter if it's worth the money, does it? I wouldn't hesitate to splash out on some badass wheels if I had that much to spend.

I have some DA9000 C24's and they are fantastic, only use them in spring/summer though.

RS81's as stated are very similar, decent price at Merlin:- http://www.merlincycles.com/shimano-rs8 ... 62700.html
