Hello,

Just wondering if anyone has any experiences of the http://www.aprirebicycles.com.

More specifically http://www.aprirebicycles.com/online-shop/vincenza.

Look to be really good value with good reviews http://road.cc/content/review/105537-aprire-vincenza-road-bike

All the best and thanks in advance.

    I wouldn't buy the Shimano 105 model for £2,245. There are much better specced bikes around for that price. Add a little more and you could buy a Cannondale Supersix Evo Red or Ultegra Di2 from pauls cycles.

    I think it looks pretty, and pretty good value for a small run, British designed bike. Whilst the Cannondales linked to above are are better spec for the money, they are heavily discounted last years models, and were orginally similar prices. Of course they offer better vfm as a result - but that happens every year. I've been looking at a Trek Domane 5.9, and at list price for the current model, with mechanical DA it would be a similar price to the Vincenza 7.0. Indeed you could ask if they would fit Ultegra Di2 (the frames are Di2 ready and the range topper has DA Di2 fitted I see). EDIT: They do an Ultegra Di2 version the 6.0 which is £3,300, so actually less than the Domane at £3,500 (albeit the Dommane 5.9 has better tubeless wheels - EDIT but the retail price of the Aprire's Carbones is similar to the Bontranger tubless X-Lites, so again similar). So actually, given that Trek are a volume manufacturer with comensurately lower costs due to volume and OEM purchasing power, the Aprire is better vfm as the supplier is obvioulsy taking a smaller profit. I'd be interested myself, if I weren't an old fart too inflexible to fir a race geometry bike (hence the Domane!). Tempting though - it does look good!

    Relatively late to the party here I know but here are my thoughts;

    The MD Phil Dempsey knows his onions, have chatted through the design and frames with him and there has been an impressive amount of work gone into this. After all the chat he was kind enough to give me a test ride on a Vincenza and I was suitably impressed. I'm coming from a Giant Defy (aluminium) and the things that were particualry impressive were;

    1) Stiffness and pick up in speed
    2) Seriously light build
    3) How easy it is to stay at speed when you get there
    4) Comfort, eats up those lumps and bumps
    5) Very fun to ride

    Not only that but the service received from Aprire has been nothing short of superb. They are still small enough to give the personal level of service which for me is unbeatable. Plus I was able to customise a few things different from the options on the site.

    I've gone on to order a Vincenza which should be with me in a few days. Re your point on 105, it's a valid point. What I would say here is you're paying for a top top frame that can compete with the best of them, plus you're getting better wheels than you would with a lot of the other bikes with better groupsets. It's obviously personal preference but I'd go with the best frame I can afford for my budget, you can upgrade other components as and when.

    Lastly - do you really want to ride a big name brand that every other person on the road has?

    FYI - After having a test ride I cancelled my Planet X RT-57 order (Ultegra Groupset) for this.
