Hi there all. I'm new to the site and have joined in order to pick your brains.
My mate and I have decided that this years summer challenge is a bike ride from Birmingham to Paris in August, We are thinking of heading down the Grand union canal for the B'ham/London leg and the Avenue verte seems well maintained and well thought out on the French side. It looks at the moment like the run from London to Newhaven is a bit of a jumble of road and dirt track, so anybody got any advice on a good route for this stretch?

Also interested in how people power any devices whilst on long distance bike rides. Last year we canoed across Scotland through the lochs and found charging devices an issue on the go. we want to camp and stay off grid as much as we can.
I have seen a few dynamo style charging devices but no real reviews for any of them so once again any info people have on these that would be really appreciated.
Cheers
