Mehning Losers!

Back to work for me today and I really, really cba :(
I'm trying a new routine this year, as I think catching the train is soul destorying. I'm going to try driving in. I think it'll cost me an extra £50 a month to do, but I should save about 30 minutes of time in the morning and evening, so an hour a day, 5 hours a week, 235 hours a year... almost 10 days! I think that's worth £50 a month.

Anywho, there'll be sod all going on at work, it'll be like Christmas Eve all over again. Kind of a good thing, as it means I can have a snooze I suppose.

Laters!
It takes as much courage to have tried and failed as it does to have tried and succeeded.

    Morning,

Managed to oversleep so didn't get into work til 6.30am. Draymen waiting outside a tad miffed. Should be out of here by 9, day off tomorrow, work Sat then a week off. Missus is at work all week so get true freedom (will most like put myself into a wank-induced-coma)

    Mornin' window lickers,

Back to work after the festive break and I can't say I'm unhappy to be back. The place will be a ghost town until next week, though (I'm wathcing the tumbleweed roll through the office as I type). Still, it'll soon be the weekend, which promises wet wind and some minor partying - could be worse!

Onwards! To caffiene! And industrial espionage!

    Morning losers :P

Not back at work yet here :D

First off to the bike shop to get the stearer cut down on my forks then off riding using one of my bro's bikes.

After that probably shite tv/films and leftover Christmas snacks 8)

I haven't got one, so either buy one or pay the shop a fiver to do it

You saw in a straight line :o Shocking isn't it! And yes, it's surprisingly easy to do

27 miles across the M62? Think I'll pass on that ;)

Have you done it before then? You didn't mark it, or come up with a method, you just picked up a hacksaw in one hand - steerer in other - and got a level cut first time?

Yes, I've done that before on my old sektors. It wasn't exact, but near enough it caused no problems. Fitting the starnut is a piece of wee wee also

Fair enough, I would of thought the steerer had to be pretty much bang on level or the top cap would pull in a wierd way. Suppose its only a couple mm if you get it wrong..

it was nowhere near a couple of mm out. it was less than a mm.
  • Morning chaps, I'm contemplating a late start to dryathlon, failed yesterday with 2 pints in the pub at lunch and a few wines in the evening.

It was all negated by a 6 mile mountain bike ride so good times!

If you cut the steerer just shy of the length required then the top of the stem/spacer will be dead level for the cap to fit bang on, if that makes sense?

Holiday, where, what did I miss?!

Man that went fast, back to work and it feels like we haven’t been off (the only indicator is that the weather is nice today where it was shite when off work  ).

on a side note, if your top cap is pulling/contacting the top of your fork steerer then you can’t preload you headset correctly, there should be a gap (the top cap should pull against the stem). So cutting on the wonk is not really an issue (well, up to a point, a little bit of accuracy is required  ).

I'm hanging out my arse, me and the uncle managed to polish off a couple of bottles of wine and a bottle of whiskey last night.

I'm supposed looking after the little cousin in return for cash today. At the moment he's entertaining himself, this is good as it's letting me get some work done. In other news the student loan arrived, I've just spent a chunk of it on some new tyres and wheels for the roadie gay bike thing as I've killed my crap weather wheels, the front one no longer has a brake surface

As others have said, it doesn't have to be exact as the topcap doesn't need to touch the top of the stem. My method was masking tape around the stem, place on desk and saw. Then a bit of filing to get rid of sharp bits and voila. Took about 10 minutes from getting tools out to fitting to bike.

I would have said down, or maybe up the M62, however it goes left to right across the country, hence the 'across' the M62. :P

Work. In charge. Sucks. Sleep and eat patterns are all messed up. Have a massive bar of chocolate on the desk though and working through that today to try and stay awake. According to the scales I have added 9lbs to my bodyweight over the last couple of weeks. Argh!!!! However my jeans still fit at the moment...
