Hi
I would like to build small race bike up for my daughter. I have a boardman road bike to use as donor for the new frame, sram rival drive train and aksium wheels.
I want something nice but smallish, 52 ctc toptube ideally. She likes the look of the sab frames on planet x, ali frame with a carbon back end, but she needs a 50cm and there are not many left.
Anyone spotted anything nice ?
Thanks for any help

My wife rides a Cannondale Synapse WSD. size 50cm. she loves hers. Geometry is very relaxed.

They are very nice, my wife likes those :-) But my daughter races a bit so something a bit more sporty is needed.

Have you looked at Dolan frames? They do female friendly sizes.

I can only really see the preffisio in our price range, it looks nice but she has a dolan cross bike which she love, black with pink decals, but something a bit different please

Kinesis do a good range of small size frames
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..

If you want a complete bike, Canyon road bikes in XS are around 50cm, carbon frames are around £1K.
    Eddy Merckx EMX-3
    Dolan L'Etape
    Cougar Zero Uno
    Genesis Core 50

my daughter races one of these, a Thompson R6700 with Ultegra/105 mix. You wont see too many about and its a bomb proof frame for youth racing.
go to the Thompson.be site in Belgium fro geo charts
I bought it as a frame only, Carbon and custom paint jobs available in other models, Andrew Thomson is a nice guy to deal with and either does or used to sponsor a local female youth racer.

How about a 49cm Scott CR1 Pro frame. Have the complete bike for sale but will split if necessary.

Those SAB frames are good quality, good value and remarkably light, with full carbon fork. I've built one up for my daughter (a LaRocca in 48cm) and it makes a great youth racer. If you need a 50cm and there are not many left, then get one quick...

Thanks for the replies. We have been to planet x today but there was nothing left that she liked, so the sab frames are out. The thompson look nice but just a bit more than I wanted to spend, but I will look into them more, thanks.
Where is the scott advertised bookwyse ? Any idea what you would want for the frame ?
    Thanks

I've seen quite a few really bad small frames - simply scaled down 'adult' frames that ended up with weird geometry like slack head angles, very steep seat-tubes and still problems with toe-overlap. A friend has a small Kinesis and it would appear they've looked hard at making it work, particularly squeezing in 700c wheels.

T2 is not really a race-oriented frame though...

I got the description wrong though as its a 2008.

As for price for the frame give me a bell on 07816 165711 and we can have a chat. I find its easier that way rather than just over a forum.

Tifosi CK7 XXS is pretty small. Available as a frame and fork only. Also the CK3 comes in XXS but these sizes are de listed. So you will get a clearance deal. 515mm virtual top tube.

  • I have a 2013 Canyon Roadlite AL in 50cm with carbon Forks that I need to move on. Is immaculate with the tiniest amount of cable rub on head tube and only done a few hundred miles if that, finished in White with matching Bontrager bottle cages. Will also include the Syntace Stem (specifically for Canyon bikes) & 40cm bars with Ritchey WCS Carbon Seat Post & Canyon's special clamp. PM me if interested. Picture below was how bike looked when built up:
