How much is the big girls thread worth to Bikeradar.

The main revenue generation for a site like bike radar is advertising and my understanding is that traffic statistics are the key determinant for pricing and selling advertising space.

Just between the two girls threads on crud catcher and here have generated around 4 million views (and presumably more before the various threads were merged) I wonder how much of an impact does that have on the bike radar advertising revenue?

Anyone have any ideas on the value of the thread?

Mind, i have / had the same opinion re. The pit girls threads on pistonheads, which also seems more popular than the btcc threads in the uk racing forum. Clearly, i'm just less of a fan on multitasking on forums..

The arguments about the Girls threads have already been had some time ago (the 'Communtergate' thread is still around somewhere) and decision was made to keep them. So no point rehashing that.

Only someone in Future Publishing is likely to have an estimate of the value, but whatever it is it's probably a lot more than the Mary Whitehouse crowd and PC wannabe killjoys would like

It's 'modded'. There are rules. There are pictures you can and can't post. If any website has a forum, then there is always going to be some threads that one might not agree with or condone.
personally, I would delete all the banal threads but BR manages to accommodate everybody and by being non-partisan, probably attracts many more than eclectic sites.

As it seems to have only had a regular handful of contributors since it all got merged I doubt it's worth anything. At least when it was Girls in Lycra it had a tenuous link. These days it's just a load of pictures anyone could find for themselves.

Thats not to say BR would get anywhere near that, but the value of a hit is averaged at $0.74/per hit/per year.
I have friends/equaintances that make on average £0.02 per view on their youtube yet make high 6 figure salaries yearly over the past 2 years which is growing rapidly.
Do no underestimate the value of people visiting your site. There is no way a business would lose a 3,500,000 hit rate unless it was hugely negative for them.

Maybe, but if you're going to click on an ad then you're more likely to do it in a thread that you look at a lot. If you use blocking software then that means no thread generates revenue from you. So threads with big viewing figures are more valuable. In any event I reckon you're more likely to click on an ad when the blood has flowed away from your head

Vtech's figures made no sense whatsoever. 3.5million hits is tiny when you consider the age of the thread, pages driving serious amounts of revenue are generating that hit rate, and well north of that, per day. I imagine BR are using a mix of DFP and Adsense. DFP generates higher margins.
