Sram Red GXP chainset

Can I replace my Sram Rival GXP chainset with the 10 speed Sram Red GXP chainset? The Red version is the 2012 Exogram. The blurb says that it is designed for the yawing FD but surely it is irrelevant whether you use a yawing FD or a regular one, all it does is shift the chain across.
