Help deciding between bikes.

Hi guys, i'm sorry to be that kind of guy who asks "which bike do I get" but I have narrowed it down to a few. I need a bike for travelling to work and back (around a 10 mile round trip) on the road and also for the weekends and my days off. The roads which I travel are fairly mucky and not the greatest (not sure if that will make a difference to the bike choice). This will be my first bike in a while (5+ years) and believe that a hybrid will give me the right mixture between speed and ease of riding.

Here are the bikes which I have narrowed myself down to (price limit £150-£300 but would rather be closer to the lower figure)

Any feedback, alternatives or upgrades for these bikes would be great!

  • Whilst I would love to get a road bike, my current budget doesn't allow for it, nor does the condition of the roads which I need to go on to get to work.

Thanks for your advice about keeping clear of the viking

You say a carrera subway bike is good... Here's the one I have seen at halfords http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stor ... &langId=-1

How does it stand up against the giant and the trek?
  • Is it a bike which I could easily replace the wheels on without being a waste of money?
