Hi all.
During my holidays, I am hoping to get a road bike. I have been looking for a long time. (Like most people on the forum, lol)
I have a stretched budget of only £650. (Its been creeping up when viewing more and more bikes)
My usage will be short evening runs of 20 to 30 miles once or twice a week plus a longer run at the weekend. 50 to hundred miles.
I am looking at more relaxed geometry bike for comfort and issues with my back.
I have whittled down to the following.
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/spe ... e-ec053051
http://www.evanscycles.com/products/tre ... e-ec040341

I realise best fit and feeling while riding but wanted feedback on rides and kit wheels etc.
Thanks graham

  • If you have an Evans locally why not make use of their test ride facility ?

The thing with specialized etc is he standard kit is lower down the range than it used to be so you're paying more for the badge than ever.

I got a Pinnacle with 10 speed Tiagra group which weighs less than the equivalent Allez in total for £540 (reduced from £750).

It's fun paging through lots of stores on the internet but honestly nothing beats going and sitting on a few, talking to a bike shop assistant who actually cares about getting something that's right for you, and not being enticed by big names (unless they are right for you of course).

I rode several bikes including a £1200 cannondale and a £1500 specialized before I settled on my £540 Evans own brand. It suited **me** the best and that's what matters at the end of the day.

This is good advice, unfortunately for the bank balance the Specialized suited me best :(
