My boxing day ride is off today here on North Merseyside. Just walked outside to inspect the roads and slipped straight away. Turbo for me this morning. Not taking the risk and can't wait for the afternoon. I was out yesterday and my back wheel slipped twice on ice though I was fortunate to get away with it. Didn't enyoy the ride though.

Had an off yesterday within a few metres of setting off on a greasy/frosty corner, luckily only minor damage to me and none to bike so completed the ride with no further problems. The roads are deceptively naughty at the moment, turbo today for me.

I was conned by the bright sunshine, came off on black ice in a sheltered section of a road. Bent deraileur, game over!

Count yourself lucky as yesterday here in South Liverpool I was only 4 miles into my projected 40 mile ride, when I found myself sliding along the road and bouncing off the gutter. Fortunately I was only travelling slowly.
Have now "christened" my left hand Shimano 7900 pedal which took most of the impact.
Think its going to be a run tomorrow and may try the bike again on Saturday.

I guess that will teach me going out on Christmas Day ...

Slid down a 20% hill and somehow managed to stay up...hated all 5 hours of my boxing day ride because I didn't trust the roads one bit after that! Even had to get off an walk for 2 miles due to sheet ice covering the roads!!

Went out for a ride at 11 this morning an hour in and one county over (Hampshire) and the roads turned to full on ice, the temp also dropped considerably, screw that for a game of soldiers i've been there before.

    Ride over turbo tomorrow
Rule #5 // Harden The Feck Up.
Rule #9 // If you are out riding in bad weather, it means you are a badass. Period.
Rule #12 // The correct number of bikes to own is n+1.
Rule #42 // A bike race shall never be preceded with a swim and/or followed by a run.
  • I have only been out on the CX bike the last couple of rides. Road bike on the turbo only. Still come the new year its only a few more months and then its time for some decent weather!

Not been for a ride since being knocked off at the beginning of November. Started work with the physio last week and was hoping to get back in the saddle in a couple of weeks but the thought of ice is not good...Going to be very nervous as it is...if I fall off and hurt myself again I will be furious!

    go away ice!
