My Raleigh Lizard (please don't laugh)

Probably (most definitely) the worst bike I have ever owned, but I had one as a 12 year old. I just had to buy one for sentiment and to use to and from work.

Nice to see another Raleigh.
They do have potential, have a look at my Raliegh in the sig link. The before and after is quite a big change.
Just change everything0 -
I had one of those about 25 years ago!0

My first bike was a Raleigh. I loved it from what i remember. It had a bald tyre at the back from skidding!
Then i resurrected a Raleigh Firefly with a bit of help from my dad as my first ever time working on a bike, then I started using the Mirage in my sig. I dont know what year it is though. Rebuilt it in the summer, and i really enjoy riding it still.
The firefly was a good bike, i had it when i was 14 and it was an oversize frame. Still loved it. Until some knob jock stole it

All my bikes were like that when I was a kid, lol. I still do it now sometimes, but you have to be more careful when the bike weighs nearly 250kg.0 -

Should take delivery on my lizard today or friday0 -
Ok. Has everyone stopped laughing?
After a bit of a delay because of something called Christmas, I took delivery of my new toy. 15 gears and 24inch wheels. Just as I remember as a kid
There are quite a few scratches but nothing major. After all, it is 20+ years old. It's in good working order. All for £300 -

LOL. I'm trying to find a gravity dropper and a 120mm fox fork to fit. Then I can post it in the aggressive hardtail thread0 -

Nice 8)
I see from the saddle angle you're going to be doing some DH on it"Arran, you are like the Tony Benn of smut. You have never diluted your depravity and always stand by your beliefs. You have my respect sir and your wife my pity"

Lol. That would be interesting. All sorted now.0 -
Absolutely loved the Raleigh Lizard my friend had - first bike I had ridden with indexed gears and the brakes were immense.
He used to let me borrow it and I'd disappear for hours flying over hills and leaning round corners - definitely the bike that got me hooked on the thrills a bike could dish out.
When I have room, I'm going to get one as well for the collection!0 -
