New SPD's

Hi,
Currently got an old tatty pair of touring type SPD's, which need replacing.
Want some with a chunkier tread / studs, and wondering what people would recommend ...
Max would be £50/£60 .. but I've seen these in SportsDirect for £30. (actually on sale at £22!! Can't go wrong ... surely??)

The tread / studs seem a bit plasticky (I guess I was expecting them to be made of rubber), but is this type of shoe always like this, or does this explain why the SportsDirect ones are so cheap?!
Would these at £44 be better http://www.sportsdirect.com/muddyfox-mt ... oes-144024 or should I look elsewhere?
Thanks

I'd really recommend avoiding cheap ones with hard plastic soles. They can be really slippery on wet rocks and roots.
At this time of year, at the top end of your budget you should be able to find a descent bargain, like this;
All depends on your size and if they are in stock tho.

I have a pair of these that have lasted well this year. They can feel a bit weird to walk in due to the hard sole, but are great for clipping in and clipping out; something that might be harder with cheaper brand footwear, as it'll likely not have the channels to aid sliding your foot into the cleat.
