The plans for a planned new closed circuit next to Derby velodrome have been amended. It's not as good as the original plans - the area is a nature reserve and the circuit has been shortened to impinge less - but is it still good enough? Initial thoughts were mixed but checking other circuit layouts this doesn't look much different so maybe not too bad?

What do people think. The application is open for consultation at the moment.

Opens for me. Looks quite similar to Stourport i.e. (relatively) long and narrow with a harpin at each end and a bit of a rise. One extra fairly tight 90 degree bend though. It's nice to see so many of these circuits coming along, we are involved in one in Monmouthshire too. The problem is if clubs all take the easy option and promote races on these circuits at the cost of promoting road races.

ok - used a different PC. As Pross says, it looks very similar in layout to Stourport or even Shrewsbury. I've ridden both and they are both great circuits, so I would be happy with that...

The new Odd Down circuit in Bath is the same too. I like these designs, but of the purpose built courses I’ve raced on, I think Hog Hill is my favourite

  • any chance to add in a few cheeky chicanes on one of the long straights?
  • Fowlmead also had to deal with nature requirements I think - they came up with this

I hope not, cause too many crashes.
