Right shifter issue

Shimano 5700, nearly new, changed cable, cleaned, lubed in other words tried all the obvious stuff.

So when I'm in the lowest gear it will shift to the next gear down then stop shifting further. It will shift back up to the top and down again all day long. I can get it shift further down the block unless i continually tap the shifter like a mad man. It will eventually click to the third lowest year and then the shifter works flawlessly until I go back up to the top two. So what can this be? Why is there an issue when in the top two gears? Hope I've explained myself properly.

It it works when you tap it then a pawl is likely sticking inside. As it's nearly new you need to do a warranty claim to get a new one as this will likely get worse over time.

Thanks for the response. Is there any way to fix myself as I no longer have proof of purchase. Thanks

Shimano shifters aren't meant to be user serviceable and you can't get parts for the innards. I'd replace it under warranty while you can.
