Shimano RX100 hub: freewheel or cassette?

8 speed it's more likely to be a cassette / freehub. Can you see a lockring?0

Definitely a cassette/freehub - RX100 was made until 1999/2000 and replaced by Sora. The first cassette hubs were Uniglide dating from the mid-1980s and were 6/7 speed, so you'd have to go back to early 1980s to find a freewheel hub on a road groupset.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0

Urm, possibly. There is certainly a ring with the word lock on it. So I reckon yes. I'll take a photo…

If it is a cassette, is this http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... p-prod1864 going to fit OK?0 -

Right, thanks. I posted that last post before I saw your reply.
So is this OK for a replacement?: http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/shim ... p-prod1864

And a few further questions:
I've got a chain whip/wrench but it doesn't have the little closed loop of chain on the end like all the ones I've seen online. Is not having that going to be a problem (for taking off old cassette and putting new one on)?
Do I need one of these as well?:

You can use an oil-filter type chain whip - you need to form a complete loop of chain around the sprocket. You only need the whip to hold the cassette for loosening.
Yes, correct lockring tool too.Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..0 -
