Ayrshsire Routes

Hi,

I am a newbie mountain biker and was wondering if anyone has any experience of good routes in and around Ayrshire/Kilmarnock?

    There's not really any proper trail centres around that area. You could drive south down towards Newton Stewart, which has Glentrool, which is supposedly good for beginners, or a bit further around to Kirroughtree, which has more technical trails, but if you stick to red or blue shouldn't pose many problems.

    Alternatively, Glasgow has got Cathkin Braes trail. I have heard of some kind of downhill or freeride type thing near Lesmahagow, though don't quote me on that.

    For the most part, your area is pretty dead for trails. Best bet is to find your local bike shop and chat with them.
