Hi all

Sorry if this has been repeated, I've looked, but cant find exactly what I'm after.

I am looking at getting some new wheels, and I'm set on the Easton Havoc's if i can do the following.

I have found the rear wheel at a very good price, but its 135x10mm axle. My bike is a 142x12mm frame.

I have a set of Easton havens, so i have some spare end caps which are for the 142x12 fitting. My question, if i got the havoc's with the 135x10, can I just pull off the end caps and pop my haven ones without having to buy a new axle etc?

Thanks Tom

  • I've looked into this too and came to the conclusion that they're either 10X135QR or 12X135/142 and you can't change between them.

    I had the same issue/query.
  • I thought that might be the answer as my havens came with 12x135/142, but not QR or 10mm.

Dam! They were a good price

On offer at CRC by any chance? I was looking at their cheap Havens recently but they didn't do 20mm front / 135x12 rear as a combo and after a bit of digging found out they're not swappable. Gutted as I would have loved that wheelset!

  • haha.. that makes 3 of us then.

Bikediscount.de had them on sale about 4 months ago, £280 for a front and rear set, any axle in grey/orange. I knew I should have bought them!

Haha, at least were not alone in our axle awkwardness. That's a cracking deal from BD too! Hindsight eh ;)

  • Yea from CRC, i got my havens from there also, they were for my other bike which has QR all round, but wouldn't mind sticking them on my new one, but thats 20mm and 142x12, so the axle conversion is a pain in the arse.

I've heard you can send off your front wheel to easton to have the hubs swapped to accommodate the 20mm axle but at 200 notes!!! doesn't seem logical

Yeah that's a rip! What you going to go for instead then?

I ended up buying a used set of 2013 Crossmax ST on Pinkbike for a great price. Not as bling as the Havens but they came with every adapter for every axle combo you can think of :)

  • well my little brother has some hope pro 2 evos Straight pull hubs laced to flows, and i have to say they are rock solid!

I've found a set but with flow EX, with the XD freehub, for £350

I know they aren't as bling, but like you say, they have every adapter.

Sounds like a great set of wheels! Plus bling is only nice if it's functional/practical too :)
