TCR Advanced 4 currently has 105 standard double. Wanting to change to compact. Can I simply buy new crankset and fit or do I need to take other things into account?

You will need to move your front derailleur down a couple of millimetres and take a link or two out of your chain. Either get the correct link pin or one of those KMC split link thingies.

Sometimes the adjustments above aren't even necessary.

Bare in mind if you buy the new Ultegra 6800 chainset or 9000 dura ace series the B.C.D is now 110 mm in both standard and compact in this series, so next time you only need to change the rings.

Thanks. Don't know what happened to the two posts and my reply last night.. just disappeared!

I'll be replacing with 105 for now. Shame there isnt some kind of BCD adaptor you can use to go from compact to standard.

As for replacing - do I just remove old set, lube/grease shaft on new crank, slot in and torque?

    Thanks

Will also adjust the FD to the same clearance (1-2mm) above the new 50 chainring when installed
