Aluminium or Steel Framed 29er?

Hi,
Can somebody tell me if there is a significant difference in the ride characteristics between an Aluminium or Steel Framed 29er? I'm aware that steel frames are generally heavier but that wouldn't bother me.

It really does depend on the frame in question, both can be stiff or flexy.0

I'm looking at the Charge Cooker 29er steel frame compared to the Charge Faucet 29er aluminium frame. Would there be much difference as they have identical geometry?0

I have ridden a Cooker. Really nice frame, there's definitely a bit of damping in the frame.
As far as I can tell the Faucet is nothing special.
Both are terrible value as complete bikes.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -
Hi, thanks for the reply! Have you ridden the Faucet?0

This was a race put on by Charge bikes and Red Bull in 2012. All the bikes were Cookers.
I watched, was hoping to ride but broke a collar bone. They were very fast down the track and turned pretty sharp. More than one was sent cartwheeling through the corn and they survived ok.
One of the local lads won a bike for best crash of the day.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

its true however, steel frames are made from smaller diameter tubes than aluminium frames. Aluminium is lighter than steel but harder to work with and more expensive.0 -

But what makes them gay?
As far as I know only the pink On One Scandal is actually gay.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

More transexual - sorry 'transgender' is I believe the new PC name for it - I'd have thought.......
Either way I think we all know the gayest bit in POAH's posts....Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
