Old wheels and Ultegra 6800

About to pull the trigger on a Canyon CF SL 9.0 which has Ultegra 6800 and wanted to know if a couple of my existing wheelsets are compatible. I have some Planet X 52mm Clinchers and also some Fulcrum 7s. Just curious to know whether they will still be usable on the new bike. My existing groupset is a mix of Ultegra 6700 and 105.
If not then I may be tempted to go for the Canyon CF SL 9.0 SL with the SRAM Force 22 as with the sale of the wheel sets I'd cover the difference.
Thanks.

No, although it may be possible to swap freehubs for compatibility. Probably not economical.
Personally I'd choose 6800 over anything SRAM, but YMMV.
As an aside, some wheels have no Shimano 11 upgrade option but you can sometimes fit an 11 speed Campag cassette, which will work with the Shimano. It's probably only worth doing for high end wheels that offer no alternative though.0 -
Appreciate the reply MM. Good to know.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

I wouldn't worry about the fulcrum 7s not being compatible, the wheels which come on the bike (Kysrium Elite S) are better anyway.
Or you keep the 7s and sell your planetx wheels and the Kysriums and get a nice pair of carbon wheels.Red bikes are the fastest.0 -
THe PLanet X will not be compatible, they use a hub which will not take an 11 speed freehub. Don't know if you can upgrade the Fulcrum freehub to an 11 speed oneleft the forum March 20230

Thanks all. To be honest not bothered about the Fulcrums, they are only £100 winter wheels, the PX on the other hand were a bit more! I also have the original Eastons that came with my Cube. Ordered the Canyon today with the Ultegra 6800 so I'll just have two bikes and if the PX's are not getting used I'll sell them on.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

You can drop a sprocket from the 11 speed cassette and screw in the rear mech. Not ideal, but you still get to use those older wheels.0
