Can anyone recommend a good cycle shop, for a bike servicing around Woodford/Loughton/Epping? (someone you'd be happy to build/service your Sunday best). Seem to be a lack of road bike orientated shops as far as I can tell.

Thanks

There's a bike shop at the mini roundabout in Epping called 'Spokes' that helped me out with a cassette spacer recently. They seemed like an OK bunch but I wasn't really asking for anything difficult. They seemed to know their stuff.

Spokes is a dealer in Epping, been there a few years, I know Jason the owner, nice bloke. Never had any work done there must admit, but for me, it has to be Ciclos Uno in New North Rd, Ilford near Chigwell. Ewen is the mechanic there and Trevor the owner.

That's where I would take my bike.

Yeah Ciclos Uno are good. Lord Sugar ships his bikes over from the US and Italy to get them serviced there, don't you know.
Well I knew those guys well before that silly old buggar decided to take up cycling, true story ...
  • Another vote for Ciclos Uno. However, there opening times are not great and naturally, they are very busy on Saturdays (least they are when I’ve been and had to queue out of the door!) :-)

Hi everyone I wanted to post this as I definitely would not recommend spokes to my worst enemy. I took my road bike into them for a service and they completely messed up the shram gears. When I complained I was given a vile telling off from Jason wife or I assume she is. Now I'm a 73 year old pensioner and my bike is my only freedom and I like to keep fit however they point blank refused to accept they had done wrong. I also pointed out some marks from what looked as if my bike had been roughly treated. I was called a lier and abused by them both but mainly the wife
I finally took my bike elsewhere to have the gears rear adjusted. So anyone using spokes just be aware they have no qualms in taking money for a poor job

Try Biketrax in Wanstead that's just around the corner from Loughton, Woodford and Epping.

    Here's their website http://biketrax.com/
