1 x 10 rear mech swap

I have 1 x 10 stuff as follows...

shifter
crank (36)
slx cassette (11-36)
kmc 10sp chain
zee rear mech

am I able to swap the rear to say xt 786 10sp shadow + without any problems or will I need to change anything else (chain?)

    As long as the speed and make is the same you should be fine. And it is not a road one.

    so (slightly) longer cage does not require longer chain? or if I use large/large it will pull the mech in a tad more?

    chain length is measured without the mech present.
