Which would you have?

I want to do some decent mileage, but the Spectral looks more fun for downhill?

That depends what you mean by ddownhill. For trail centre type stuff and general xc riding I would go for the Nerve.
For more gnarly stuff and the odd enduro race or alpine trip as well then the Spectral would be better.
  • Thanks. No proper DH stuff, just the local trails including Cwmcarn. Maybe go for the Nerve then?

As a total noob would I notice the difference between the 7.9 8.9 9.9 specs?

Yes you would, they will be lighter, and better componentry.
Having no links, I cannot be more specific.

I'd go for the Spectral however. 650b is the new black; enduro is the way forward; it comes in a lairy chrome red. Win
  • The Spectral looks LUSH. Would it hold me back at XC though, on the climbs? The one I'm looking at is a 29er though, the Spectral 7.9 29
  • I have ordered a spectral al 8.0 :D, But I have a cube carbon hardtail for xc, so the spectral is ideal for me, the nerve get's a great write up though.

You need to decide what you would do more, trail / mountain or xc.

Saying that don't think 130 mm travel will hamper you on xc, m8s giant has 125mm travel and he has no problems doing xc on that!!!
Cube reaction gtc race 2011 26er, Canyon spectral al 8.0 2014, cube reaction gtc race 2015 29er
    How much for that!!!!!

I've got many a mate who ride xc on 140, or even 160mm
  • Hello Ross,

I know this is a long shot, but if you do order a Canyon bike, would it be possible to include the Canyon Chaincatcher and the "COVER FOR ONE ONE FOUR SLX FORK" on my behalf? I will pay you beforehand and will be happy to pay another £6 on top to cover the postage costs to me and your time. I was wondering whether you'd be happy/willing to do this on my behalf as it will save me the £10 postage charge and £4 on the chaincatcher.

Please let me know / message me if you are happy enough to do so, I would be ever so thankfu if you were able to. Thank you very much,
    James
