Ban everything! Now! I am offended.

Is 'it' likely to affect the price of my house?

It's already banned round here, but usually takes the rest of the country a while to catch up, won't be long though so make the most of it while you can

I think the word "it" has been used too often, so yes, that word should be banned.

It was banned in 1989. We've all been using it illegally since, though I understand there will be a crackdown next year. Use it and abuse it while you still can.

I think it's still banned in Russia.

It should be made mandatory and then it should rigidly be enforced by them.

    Disagree if you wish. Fascists.

No doubt certain tabloid newspapers will report that 'they' are tyring to ban 'it'....

'It' has already been banned here in the big bit of Europe you can only use the personal pronouns he or she, we don't have the non gender 'it' :D

  • Didn't they ban it to try to make prices go down? Or was it that they banned?

Banning the word "It" would make ordinary conversation more difficult, however, it would force us to expand our vocabulary.

    I vote "Yes".

It's just a hill. Get over it.

There is a school of thought that it is safer than it used to be.

    Where's the evidence though??

People have been using it since the 18th century at least. Traders brought it back to Britain from Asia along with tea and spices. The It Wars were fought against the French over control of European supplies of it. Without it we would have lost both world wars. To destroy such an important part of our heritage is ridiculous. I blame the Muslims. Vote UKIP.
  • Where are the pictures of it? Without pictures it's not real.

Here is an argument to keep 'it'. This sentance:

I went to the supermarket and selected a shopping trolley but it was so dilapidated, it did not go in a straight line.

    ... as opposed to

I went to the supermarket and selected a shopping trolley but the shopping trolley [DOUBLE ENTITY] was so dilapidated, it did not go in a straight line.

The 'it' participle of that sentence allows for a more manageable sentence.

Whilst I thoroughly agree with the idea that some people's vocabulary is lacking, getting rid of 'it' would not make a difference.

    FTFY

You don't need to remove the whole word 'it' from that sentence to make sense, just the 't' :D

At the supermarket, while stocking up on johnies, the trolley I selected was unable to hold a straight line, being quite delapidated.

    or

    Supermarket, wonky trolley, johnies; typical!

You see, there really is no need for the superfluous it which is why it was banned. Oh b0ll0x.
