Turbo trainer skewer?

I've got my turbo-trainer (an Elite Volare Mag), together with a spare rear wheel and a turbo tyre.
...the problem I seem to have is that all the skewers I have tried so far just seem to disappear into the 'jaws' (cups?) of the turbo trainer - potentially allowing damage to the frame of my precious bike.
What skewers do people use to keep the frame clear of the 'jaws' of the turbo trainer?

Turbo trainer skewers are usually stronger than normal ones so I would contact the manufacturer to get the correct one.0
