Powertap Wired Hub Not Working

Hi I bought a powertap wired hub on ebay, unfortunately it does not appear to be working. I have changed the batteries but was wondering if anyone had any hints of what I could try or any other checks I can do to see if its the hub or computer?

    If hub and computer have good batteries then it may be a dead hub which will cost hundreds to repair (Paligap are the UK service centre for Powertap). You could try to get hold of a new wiring set or computer as well. But if you bought this on ebay and it was described as 'working' then I'd just send it back.
    More problems but still living....
