Im looking at buying a nukeproof mega (good price on crc) but cant decide between the am and tr. im sure the tr would be fine for most of the riding ill be doing but would it cope with occasional alps trips/dh days?

    In a word - yes.

The TR is a solidly built bike.

Yes it can. It's a very capable bike. You will feel the lack of rear suspension on particularly rough track but it's strong enough and the geometry is nice and stable.
If you're to be doing mostly trail/xc but with the occasional enduro race and alpine trip go for the TR. If most of your riding is going to be downhill and enduro then go for the AM.
The TR is also fairly light, mine is 29lb (xl frame) and there's another lb or two to be easily lost. It also climbs very well, I don't find the need to use propedal.
  • any idea how it would compare to a 2010 marin attack trail? thats what i have currently and would be swapping out for the mega

It's less gravity oriented. Less of a steam roller but probably just as fast down the hills. The Mega AM would be a bit more comparable. Both the TR and AM will climb better.
  • thanks for the replies. the tr definatley sounds like the more practical choice!
