New wheels - any offers about?

I destroyed the front wheel on my 2010 Boardman Comp earlier this year and have been lending a front wheel till I had the funds to upgrade.

Parents have offered to buy me a new set for xmas/birthday so could do with pointing in the right direction. Budget for a pair is £150-200 - are there any offers on at the minute or is there a pair at that price that can't be beaten? Wanting a upgrade from Richey DS Pro (as standard).

Apologies if this is asked over and over again.

Would be willing to spend a bit more if there is something special available, but will be used all year round so after something that will hold up in the god old British weather too.

Fulcrum racing 5 are good at this price point. Spend the balance on nice tyres.

Worth considering some handbuilts if you can stretch your budget.

The Cycle Clinic ( a regular contributor on this site) is offering a set built around Shimano 105 hubs and Mavic Open Pro rims for £248 (32 spoke front and rear) through his Ebay shop

    http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Handbuilt-Mav ... 68d0ada8a0

This will get you a set that will withstand all the vagaries of our weather and be fully serviceable - which some of the factory wheels are not,

Also you could contact our other wheel guru - Ugo Santalucia to get his suggestions for a build around your budget

If you want to stick to £150 Planet X AL30's are still the best value.

Depending on what usage you've got in mind, at this price point get a sensible pair of wheels with enough spokes to get you home if you get a breakage. They might not look as blingy but I doubt there's much difference weight wise.

Two pairs of Shimano R500/R501s or a set of handbuilt H Plus Son Archetype rims on Shimano 105 hubs...

You can't go wrong with Mavic Aksiums, good, solid wheel and they come with tyres and tubes.
An added bonus is that they look brilliant on Boardmans because of the yellow on both. (Gurananteed, my Dad has a Boardman with Mavics ;) )

Send them a mail more than likely they are Shim. If you are using firefox add a translate plug in and its easier to get around the site. A few weeks a go paypal was not working but they sent me a invoice.
