Quick question, does anyone know if you can upgrade from the original DI2 shifters to the new ones? I understand some of the wiring is different that's all.

Are you talking about upgrading from 10 speed Di2 to 11 speed without changing the mechs? If it's 7970 then the answer is no. If its 6770 then the answer is maybe, but it's pretty pointless.

  • Was just the shifters. Heard they have a better design.

Which Di2 do you currently have?

The fact that you don't know your own kit is a bit worrying...
    Utegra 6770 (10 speed)
    Dura Ace 7970 (10 speed)
    Ultegra 6870 (11 speed)
    Dura Ace 9070 (11 speed)

My guess is that you have 6770. If that is the case the hood design is slightly different, but not worth paying money to change. You can use 6870 and 9070 shifters with the 6770 mechs as long as the firmware has been updated accordingly. Save your money.

  • Cheers Grill. Yes it's 6770 10 speed Di2 that I use. Not much of a worry like. ;-)
