Cable stop on rear stay

I am doing up an old stew frame for a friend which I have had resprayed. She now wants to have modern gears (a triple) which mean cable stops on the frame.

(I want to avoid welding on cable stops and respraying again, if possible.)

I know I can get bolt-on cable stops on the down tube for the gear cables, but what about the rear stay before the bare inner cable goes into the 8 ins of outer and joins the derallier?

Any ideas of fixing one up somehow? I am think of fixing up a DIY version with a Dia Compe cable guide like this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/390695695590?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649, but it might be too wide for the stay. Or maybe even a jubilee clip, which would not look great.

Any ideas? or does it have to be a weld?
