I've a 2013 Trek Madone that the PO put straight bars on and MTB brakes/shifters for 'comfort'.

I'm looking at converting back to drop bars and am baffled by what shifters I need, I can appreciate it needs to be shimano but can someone explain which will work with the following components please? Here's what the stock madone 3.1 should have come with:

Drivetrain
Shifters
SRAM Apex, 10 speed
Front derailleur
SRAM Apex, 34.9mm clamp
Rear derailleur
SRAM Apex
Crank
SRAM Apex, 50/34 (compact)
Cassette
SRAM PG-1050 11-32, 10 speed
Pedals
n/a
Components
Saddle
Bontrager Affinity 1, steel rails
Seatpost
Bontrager Race Lite Alloy, infinite tilt adjustment, 20mm offset
Handlebar
Bontrager Race VR-C, 31.8mm
Stem
Bontrager Race Lite, 7 degree, 31.8mm
Headset
Integrated, cartridge bearings, sealed, alloy, 1-1/8" top, 1.5" bottom
Brakeset
Alloy dual-pivot brakes w/SRAM Apex levers

Really appreciate the help guys thank you..

May I suggest SRAM APEX 10 speed sti shifters then (as they are listed above).

You could use any SRAM 10 speed stl shifters if APEX are hard to find (which they should not be)
    Yellow is the new Black.
  • What drivetrain does your bike have? Do you have any pictures?

Needs to SRAM 10-speed levers - your gear mechs won't work with any other brand of lever. Doesn't matter what model of SRAM lever as long as they're 10 speed i.e. Apex, Force or Red.
Make mine an Italian, with Campagnolo on the side..
  • Wonderful thanks very much
