Hi,

Let me introduce myself. I've been commuting on my road bike for some time but recently bought a MTB for "weekends" and find myself using it more and more often to go to work in central London. In part, the suspension makes it more comfortable and the fact i have disc brakes makes me feel safer in city traffic.

I currently run tubeless and wondered if anyone knew of any decent semi-slick or slick 26 inch tyres that were tubeless ready (LUST, TR, 2bliss etc) and 2.0 - 2.2 inches wide. Most of the tubeless ready tyres ive looked at so far use some pretty aggressive tread patterns but as I'll be using them to ride on asphalt i think they will just slow me down.

Thanks

So do you just want something to commute on, or are you hoping to ride it off road at weekends too? Furious Freds are available tubeless, but will wear quickly on the road. Why not just use the road bike? Or get some tough commutey tyres and just use tubes?
  • Screw tubeless for communting - you want to get there without faff. Like Njee says - get some tough slicks and use tubes. Faffing at the side of the road on the way to work is NEVER ever fun.

Conti speed kings, or maybe something like a bonty G1 would suit. I can see why you'd go tubeless on road, but beware of weak sidewalls, glass cuts are a problem on the road and tubeless will only make them worse!
