Hello ....
Asking for some purchasing advice .
As above what would you buy ... the Rockrider is £100 more but is it worth it ??
Rockrider ... http://www.decathlon.co.uk/rockrider-92-id_8208373.html
Boardman ... http://www.boardmanbikes.com/mtb/fs_team650b.html
I'm leaning to the Rockrider but as this will be my first FS buy I'm looking for advice .

spec wise the RR is worth the extra 100 but I prefer horst link to a single pivot design so its a toughy0
-
Tougher choice than last year, IMHO.0

The boardman, the rockrider is seriously fugly and looks like it has a suspension design from the 90s0

orange wannabes lol0 -
The rockrider is not a single pivot, it's a short link four bar.0

its a solid rear triangle, no pivots at the rear axel0 -
Yes, connected to the front triangle by a linkage at the top, and an eccentric bearing at the bottom.0
-
solid rear triangle attaches directly to the shock - a 4 bar link would be a kona for example
plus they even call it a single pivot lol

The description is wrong! It is most definitely not a single pivot, it has a vpp and moving instant centre. Look at all the pics of it.0

Seems to have started a small debate here lol .Boardman AiRPro C

it has a single pivot with some other shit attached to it. its not a linkage driven single pivot, not is it a bog standard single pivot but it most certainly isn't a 4 bar linkage0 -
Here is the bottom part:
The pivot rests in an eccentric bearing, which performs EXACTLY like a linkage centered on the middle of the shell. The top part of the triangle is connected to the from via another short link.
The rear triangle floats therefore is a four bar system. The same as the Giant Meastro is a 4 bar, SC VPP is four bar, Yeti Switch is four bar. The rear axle does not move in a simple arc like a simple pivot, but has quite a complex path.0 -
Arguing with SS on this was always going to be like taking on the USS Nimitz with a rowing boat, you were gonner lose it was just a question of how long!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

The Rockrider is slightly better specced, but the Boardman runs it close and you would be hard pressed to notice much difference in every day use. The deciding factor would be which you prefer the feel of, both shops are unlikely to let you take it for a spin outside but you at least need to sit on both and have a pootle round the shop. Pick the one that fits you best!2012 Boardman FS Team

Agreed, not much in it, not sure the 9.2 is worth £100 more though it is slightly better specced.
Of course the Boardman is the new 27" wheels so will be MUCH faster and better in every respect - sic!Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0 -
Just bear in mind that halfords regularly offer discounts so you could get 10% or even 20% off the boardman price.0

he is still wrong0 -
If they both fit, then the rockrider for me. Two pounds lighter, motion control fork, more adjustable rear shock and a better spec all adds up0

The Cole was hardly the Nimitz and you don't get 200-300Kg in a rowing boat, and it is you that is wrong, there is a measurable length between the centre of the 2 pivots that creates a virtual arm, continuing your pointless argument just makes you look imature I'm afraid. (you can call me imature as at my age I take it as a compliment!)Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0
