What do you guys think to the new marin range? Specifically the Marin attack-trail-quad-carbon-xt9?
http://www.marinbikes.com/gb/bikes/desc ... carbon-xt9

I think it looks the business, but are marin a bit of an unknown quantity after the last few years in the wilderness? i can't find many shops who actually stock marin anymore, never mind demo them.

To give a bit of background I'm looking at moving from a kona kula hard tail XC to a full suss with enough travel to handle DH runs like those at FoD, but still be able to peddle around local trails in oxfordshire. Each manufacture seems to have a different name for this type of bike but i suppose it's "all maintain" ?

Also been looking at the Specialized Stumpjumper FSR Expert Evo Carbon 2013, anyone have any thoughts on this bike? I live the idea of the slacker head angles which the evo bikes have, seems light as well.

Cheers,
Matt

Cant say I have ridden one, but I did see the new Marin range at Eurobike and I was really impressed. The quality and details look great, and on paper they look a great geo.

    + some other bikes.
  • Thats a proper bike, there was a review in this months mbuk and it got 4/5.

Think there is a video review of it on the bike radar homepage.

    Whats the cost?

I saw this in the recent MBUK as mentioned above and I really, really like it. I'm a big fan of the simple look and the frame design, the way there is a straight line from the rear axle to the headtube.

I rode my recently built Mega on the DH runs at FoD a few weeks ago and it was prefect for them. It descended really well but also climbed like my XC Pro. The geometry on the Marin looks similar to the Mega so could be a relatively similar irde, it certainly sits in the 'All Mountain' category in my books.
Also, you get a lifetime warranty with the frame bearings which is a good reason to go with one over other brands.

Looks stunning, and as has been said, it did 2nd best in a recent test

It's not one that would be on my list if I was looking for an all mountain bike.
Have a look at the new Kona Process, Nukeproof Mega AM & TR and the Giant Trance SX Advanced.

    £4250 is a lot.

Same price as a Carbon Bronson AM R - I'd have the Santa Cruz.
