Heart Rate Monitor - Cycling and Swimming

I'm looking for a heart rate monitor that I can use on the bike but which will also record heart rate when swimming. The Garmin Forerunner 910XT looks good, but doesn't seem to record heart rate when swimming. Its swimming functions are stroke count, lengths etc. I'm more interested in just recording heart rate rather than the more sophisticated stuff like stroke count.

I have a Garmin Edge 500 for the bike, which is great, but I would replace that if I could find something good that did the swimming as well.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Swimming destroys swim trunks quite fast - would it not do a similar thing to pulse meter belts ?
  • Only one of the Polar watches can do this but it has no GPS, you need a seperate module
  • Thanks. Looked that up - it's the RCX5, which looks nice. I guess you could get any rides (as opposed to swims) you did with it to Strava?
