Hi all

I currently have a giant defy 4 that runs a shimano 2300 8 speed groupset. I am looking to upgrade it as it isn't great. Can I upgrade part by part or do I have to invest in a whole new groupset?

If I can upgrade part by part what are the best options?

Cheers

tbh if 2300 is set-up ok and maintained it's fine

unless you're adept at bargain finding, changing lots of components can be poor value

you could probably do better saving the money and looking for something nice secondhand

It would be cheaper to buy the groupset all together. 105 should be in the £400 (going by madsion's latest offer) range and campag veloce is a bit less -£360 was what I charged the last time I sold one.

Not too bad if you can fit it yourself but costly if the bike shop has to do it.

As has already been said 2300 is perfectly fine or sell the bike and buy something with a more expensive groupset if you are really hankering after something dearer Note: I didn't say better just dearer.
