Question on unpadded (Assos)

Do you size up?
My Habu, in large with a pad, are very tight but spot on on bike. But I don't think I'd get away with anything underneath even if the pad was not present.
Considering some LL 716 (Bonka) unpadded. I believe the Bonka already run small so a) are unpadded any good and b) would an XL be preferable?

I wear the same size both padded and unpadded for Assos. Didn't seem to make any difference in fit for me.0
