Running black chilli compound tyres for the first time, so I'm wondering how hard wearing they are on road? Because of the condition of the trails there can be a significant portion of road to link stuff together.

Short of carrying an alternative set and swapping, does it matter?

  • Well it not short sections. Talking about 6 or 7 miles each way. If the off road route is really bad I have to do long section on road and if they wear out fast on road I will get something a little more harder wearing for now. Just use these for the less muddy weather and the summer.
  • My mountain king mk2's black chilli protection lasted superbly on the 230mile ccc2cc.

Got home and they hardly look worn, been riding them since and still hardly worn.
  • got mk2s and rqs black chilli and they are wearing fine. the mks are showing signs of wear first on the rear, curently at about 250 miles and look half worn
