Guys,
I have not been using my Marin recently, as the rear brake is staying on.
As they are Hayes Soles, and 7 years old, I expect it makes more sense to replace them.
I do not have lots of cash to splash, but wondered if anyone can point me in the direction of some good deals, and hopefully good brakes!
Budget ideally less than £100, but would go to £120 if its a monster of a good deal.

You can get a set of Shimano SLX brakes for about £105
Or there's the Deores which are cheaper than that0 -
SLX for £108 on CRC currently (I got XTs for £113 a couple of weeks back, but they're £130 currently).0

Ribble are out of stock but they have the SLX at £100 including delivery0

Thankyou for those replies gents, looks like 100 notes is about the minimum spend then.
I just noticed merlin are doing an entire slx groupset for 300, so 291 after quidco cashback.
I am not up on mtb groupsets of recent, but would that be a decent upgrade on my 2006 Deore DX 9 spd setup?
And am I correct in thinking it comes with everything I would need?

The only bit I am unsure of is the front derailleur, how do I know if its 'top swing' or 'conventional'?
Is this a sensible option do you think?Felt F70 05 (Turbo)

Ribble, Merlin, CRC and On One always seem to have the best component prices to me. I agree that Shimano is the way forward - Deore or SLX.'Happiness serves hardly any other purpose than to make unhappiness possible' Marcel Proust.0

£90 excluding the rotors but they will bolt straight on using your existing adaptors. Very nice brakes - not as bling as XT for example but apart from a slightly less precise feel at the lever and a couple of adjusters, the braking power and fit/forget hassle-free operation is the same. Order them today you'll probably get them tomorrow0 -
Agreed M615 seem excellent. Even cheaper on the German site too.
Sometimes. Maybe. Possibly.

Love my SLX M666 brakes but those Deores are steal at that price, UK or German. I think the reach adjustment is worth paying a little extra for though.
Good price on that SLX groupo from Merlin too. Looks like all you would need is mount adapters. I think you'd need Conventional F/D for the Marin, but a quick call to Merlin should give you the exact info.Current:
