If someone goes out of their way to assist you on these fora do you not think it appropriate to thank them ?or is it just me who who gets irritated .

Fora?? This isn't a latin class, spit it out in English...

    "...these forums".

Some do, some don't, who cares. Lots of the 'help' is pretty useless anyway.
    Life's too short.

ps I use fora too, being an intelligent Mackem. Unlike wannabe Geordies.

Fora isn't an English word though.

  • The plural of forum is usually spelled forums; the plural fora (as in the original Latin) is chiefly used when talking about a public square in an ancient Roman city.( Oxford english dictionary )

    I apologise.

But seriously don't expect any love from this forum, several people have been forced to quit into a permanent state of sitting in the corner of a dark room crying and shaking.

Common courtesy? You are indeed expecting too much. Observe this recent sparkling exchange that went from a question about brakes to handbags at dawn in about half an hour.

A geeky Audio Visual Forum I frequent has a "thanks" button next to every post.

It's a nice way to show a bit of gratitude, and nice to get some back too.

I use a forum which has about 10 buttons next to each post for folk to pres, it's faintly ridiculous. Off the top of my head there's like, dislike, agree, disagree, unintelligible or confusing, humorous, compassionate/supportive and thanks, among others. It's stupid. All this forum needs is the unintelligible one.

Nope, just injury and pain. Death is a bit extreme.

Although I can't remember the last time I asked for help.

I do post some helpful comments.

But mainly a lot of random useless ones.

    A bit like yours.

I'll take that as a grudging 'no', then.
