Hi peeps, im looking at buying the new Stache 8 and wondered what your thoughts were on the chainring set up.
The 2014 model has a 36/22 set up and the 2013 model which is nearly identical apart from the colour has a 38/24 set up, can anyone shed any light on why Trek would have changed to the different ratio?
Im moving from a 26 inch wheel 27 speed set up and want to know if im going to be ok with the Stache 8's gears, any thoughts? much apreciated :D

what's the ratio of the cassette? you'll probably have the same range of gears.

Try it and see if you like it. Its cheap and easy enough to change if you don't like it.

If you were previously running a 11-34 on your 26er, the 36 on 10speed compensates for the bigger wheel so the 22 on the front would give you the same lowest gear you have now. If you go with the 24 your lowest gear would be about the same as your current 2nd lowest gear. How often do you really need your current lowest gear?

Makes sense cheers, there are some nasty hills on the trails and roads where I live so need some help when I can't be arsed to stand and power up them, ha cheers
