I can get 2x10 Deore for 65 quid or SLX for 95. Is it worth paying the extra 30 quid?

Barr weight and cudos, there's no real difference. Saying that, I'd get XT.0

Only difference is weight.
I have a deore crankset and it has performed faultlessly. BB didnt last ages, but I was giving it hell on some really gritty terrain.0 -

Having looked at both I'd go with the Deore in black, solely on the basis of appearance. Functionally I'm sure it's up to the job, too.Specialized Roubaix Elite 2015

XT & SLX bottom brackets are the same. Deore chain rings last longer but are heavier other than that it's all about weight.Transition Patrol - viewtopic.php?f=10017&t=130702350 -

Why would you get XT? That said it's only another 20 quid.

Although a 65 quid purchase has now potentially doubled in price!0 -
Sucker. Sucked in by 'only' 20 quid more.0

SLX is 'worth' at least a fiver more for the better BB, arguably a tenner or so more after you've replaced the Deore BB once (in about 6 months which seems to be an average life), which makes the weight saving aspect cheaper.Currently riding a Whyte T130C, X0 drivetrain, Magura Trail brakes converted to mixed wheel size (homebuilt wheels) with 140mm Fox 34 Rhythm and RP23 suspension. 12.2Kg.0

+1 about the BB. I ruined a Deore BB in 6 months with some not very aggressive summer riding.0

It's always a tempting trap...0 -

Strangely, I've run mine through an entire year with no problems.0
