What's the best bike shop you've ever been in looks wise, one that stands out as being super cool and not just because of the bikes.
I like a shop with a little history and some memorabilia.
Has anyone got any photos of shops like this?

  • Don't have any photos but the best bike shop I've been to was called University bicycles in Boulder, Colorado. http://ubikes.com/

Reasons I think it was cool:

It was massive and had just about anything you could ever want from a bike shop.
Kind of modern/classic mix of style which I like.
Lots of different types of bikes from cheap commuters to carbon race bikes.
Really friendly and helpful staff who even though I just bough a T shirt were really happy to just chat bikes.
It was in Colorado, say no more! :-)
Bikes are OK, I guess... :-)

  • I'm a regular visitor to Marin County in the USA (over the GG Bridge from San Francisco) as I have family there. A small local chain of shops is called 'Mike's Bikes' - it may be a national chain for all I know. Their store in San Rafael (which is where my daughter lives) is so large it has an inside 'track' that encirlces the shop floor, so you can actually try bikes out 'in-store'. Funnily enough, I have 'sampled' nearly every single bike in stock, and have yet to purchase one!

  • Cycles caldenty in palma mallorca has some very nice stuff. Not big shop but they have some really jawdropping bikes and one offs or ltd editions. Any super limited specialzed models and garunteed he always has one or two. No idea how or how he even sells them but they do. They have snother store in manacor which is again small but has some great kit.

While in the uk i came across a wonderful place called "halfords" amazing in all sorts of ways ;-)
  • Having spent the last 48 hours in barcelona can only say pave is like no other bike shop. Amazing. More like a clinical museum but stunning.

When I’m in London with some time to kill I often pop into Condor for a browse. Their downstairs showroom rarely disappoints

Cadence sport is great, lots of tour memorabilia (especially from about 1987) and retro gear as well as recent signed jerseys. Ada's 1987 tour bike is there too. Plus big screen showing lots of bike racing and loads of nice kit :)

"Once the dust settles from the grand opening and reality kicks in, our marketing plan is pretty obvious," Staley said. "We call it 'cheating' to have Lance as one of the owners because he's so visible."
