Having now got a dedicated bike garage, has anyone got recommendations (or avoids) for vertical storgae hooks, I want to rack all the families bikes up on the walls (10 plus a tandem at last count) and vertical is most space efficient.
halfords have the very basic http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_249484_langId_-1_categoryId_242557
to the less basic http://www.halfords.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_storeId_10001_catalogId_10151_productId_920651_langId_-1_categoryId_242557
needs to cope with road and MTB

I've used this company a few times before and they've always been reliable and the products very solid.0

I use an even more basic version of the first one. The key question is what is the wall made of? My basic, single screw hook goes into a very good wall plug that is into a hole that I drilled into the mortar. Drilling into the brick would be firmer but didn't line up so well. Bike is a hybrid with racks and guards so pretty hefty. A good plug is very important.
Same as this:

I have 3 of these on my garage wall for my road bike, my mtb and my wife's bike:

The kids bikes hang using this style instead:
Also from Halfords but can't find it on the website. You only need two tools: WD40 and Duck Tape.
If it doesn't move and should, use the WD40.
If it shouldn't move and does, use the tape.0 -
I bought 8 of these, and they have been spot on and good value:
