Comparable bikes to Canyons + Canyon model advice

I'm currently riding a Cube Agree GTC Race with Planet X 52mm clinchers and looking to upgrade around February next year.
I'll be budgeting around the £2000-£2300 mark but at the moment struggling to come up with options other than a Canyon (no bad thing). My riding involves alot of hill climbing and that's where I'm looking to focus next year, hills, hills and more hills and be in great shape for the hill climbing season but with alot of basic all round riding.
So something lighter than the Cube (8.2KG) would be great, ideally around the 7KG mark which with a saving of over 1.2KG should be noticeable (like not having a 1.5 litres of water with you).
The 2 Canyon models I'm looking at are the CF SL 9.0 SL with SRAM Force and Mavic Ksyrium SLS WTS (1395g) Total weight 6.75KG. Or the CF SL 9.0 which has Ultegra and Mavic Ksyrium Elite S WTS (1520g) Total weight 6.95KG, the latter being £400 cheaper and only 200g heavier. I've never used SRAM but wondering if I'd be better saving the £400 as I do like the look of both bikes.
So I'd welcome advice on the 2 models above and seeking direction on what other bikes can offer the same sort of spec for that price.

Difficult one, a 2013 'Dale Supersix Evo with Sram Red would probably be better than the Canyon CF with a set decent wheels. £2399 at Pauls Cycles.
I've had SRAM force, Red & rival and would have it over any shimano gruppo for performance and weightI'm sorry you don't believe in miracles0 -
Thanks SS. SRAM certainly seems the lightweight choice and it would be nice to have a go with something else. Just had a look at the Dale, looks very smart!! Thats certainly in my thinking now.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

if you want light and want to climb look at Slane Cycles deals on Cervelo. Cervelo is one company where you can get reliably light framesets. Many companies don't live up to weight claims in the real world. Check out the stats pages in C+ for evidence.
The Cannondale Super6 Evo Hi-Mod is another good frame but is has to be a) the Evo and b) the Hi-Mod to really make the difference, however that will blow your budget.
The last option is a PX nano whatever. Px change their bikes so often it's hard to keep up with what the latest model is.
If you're keen on light weight then I'd make the switch from Campy/Shimano to Sram. Sram shifter, cassettes and derailleurs are simple and light so a good bet. I personally don't find the shifting as telepathic as Shimano but you'll quickly get used to it.
You could also go Canyon Alu and spec good components and wheels, that'll beat your Cube.
What size do you take? If you're up in the 58-60 range it seems to me that no bikes are feathers. When a cyclist has a disagreement with a car; it's not who's right, it's who's left.0 -
Appreciate the reply Frans. Take on board the comments about SRAM being lighter in weight, however the new Ultegra reviews seem to be outstanding I'm starting to think familiarity might be a good choice. The 200g weight difference seems to occur mainly in the wheels so I wonder how much extra Canyon might do the wheels for on the cheaper package.Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/

You can go light on a bike with a "heavy" frame set.
My Canyon, with SRAM Red, was about 6.8kg. Swapped to a steel Condor, transferred the Red, slightly lighter Fulcrum wheels and now the bike is about 7.5kg.
This fits well with the fact that the Condor frame was 700g heavier and the fork 100g.
It's no slower. In fact, it's faster IMO.
That said my 10.5kg Genesis isn't far off the pace either.
So there are many options, super light frame, medium group set. Middle road frame, super light group set.

Isn't the new Scott Addict one of the ultimate hill climbing bike? You should at least have a look and consider one, all reviews say its brilliant on hills.0

I agree, I am looking at Canyon as an option for the next bike.0 -

surprised that no-one has yet mentioned Rose Bikes - they seem about the closest "comparable bikes to Canyons"0

re the Rose bikes, I used this http://www.roadbikeguide.co.uk/ and spotted the CRS 4400 but for some reason could never see anything, I have now found the Rose website and my club colours are black and green.......Trainer Road Blog: https://hitthesweetspot.home.blog/
